LAS DOS BANDOLERAS
While men are anly worried about war, women wait for their father to decide how should be their life, who they should marry with and when.
Inés and Teresa have already decided who they are going to marry with. And, of course, they have made love with their lovers.
Men, try to obtain as much as possible from women’s feelings and when they get their love, instead of getting engaged, they run away.
The two sisters, full of rage and reason, decide to hide in the mountains and to become “bandoleras”, to be able to revenge men’s behaviour by killing any man who traverse these mountains.
“Bandolerismo”, banditry, has always been a socilogical phenomenon born of misery and injustice that resulted in the rebelion as the only answer to a inflexible society that only defended the interests of a few, men in this case. Our two “bandoleras” are intelligent, strong, full of unfulfilled hopes which will overcome killing all men who cross the mountains.
We pay tribute to all the strong women, heroines full of determination and life living in Lope de Vega’s plays.
